Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: your username, and your password and recovery code, which we store only as one-way hashes so we cannot read them. Older accounts may also have two security answers, stored the same way.
• Age: you enter your date of birth to confirm you are 18 or older. We store your age, not your date of birth.
• Profile: display name, gender, who you are looking for, your city (Harare, Bulawayo or elsewhere), and the bio lines you write.
• Photo (optional): kept in private storage and never shown to anyone until you and a match have both agreed to unlock photos.
• Activity: your swipes, matches, messages, unlock requests, event RSVPs, blocks and reports.
• Airtime competition and referrals (when the competition is running): whether you have entered, your entry and claim history, and the mobile network you choose if you win. If someone joins using your username as a referral code, we record that connection and the bonus entries it earns you.
• Safety Plan (optional): if you choose to save one, a location, a time, and the name and phone number your match gave you. This is stored with Hey Tango for your own safety, is never shown to your match, and you can clear it at any time.
• Technical: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and basic server logs used to keep the service running and secure. To block scripts that guess passwords or mass-create accounts, we also keep a scrambled version of your network address for up to 24 hours. It cannot be turned back into your address.

We do not ask for your own email address, phone number, contacts or precise location. The one exception is the Safety Plan above, which you fill in yourself, only if you choose to, about a specific meetup.

How we use it

• To run Hey Tango: show your bio to other people, find mutual matches, deliver messages and unlock photos when both people agree.
• To run the airtime competition when it is active: decide entries and winners, prevent abuse such as multiple accounts or referral farming, and let you redeem a prize if you win.
• To keep people safe: handle reports and blocks, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use.
• To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.

If you win an airtime prize, you redeem the code yourself. We do not send your information to Econet, NetOne or any other network operator.

We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.

Who can see what

• Other people see your username, display name, age, gender, what you are looking for and your bio prompts.
• Nobody sees your photo unless you and a match have both asked to unlock it.
• Nobody can see who you swiped on or who swiped on you. Someone only learns about a like when it is mutual.
• Events show only how many people are going, never who.
• Our moderators can review reported content and accounts to keep the community safe.

Who helps us run Hey Tango

We use reputable third-party cloud service providers to host the app, store our database and files, and deliver messages in real time. They process data on our behalf and only to provide those services, and their infrastructure may be located outside Zimbabwe, so using Hey Tango means your information may be transferred to and processed in another country. By using Hey Tango you consent to that transfer. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

Keeping your information secure

Your password, recovery code and any security answers are one-way hashed, not stored as plain text, and traffic between your device and Hey Tango is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee protection against every attack, but we work to keep your information safe, and will notify affected users and the Data Protection Authority, as required by Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act, if a security incident puts your information at risk.

Automated sorting

The order bios appear in your deck is decided automatically: filtered to who you are looking for, then most recently active people first. It is not a scoring or profiling system, does not make any binding decision about you, and does not affect anything outside the app.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit or remove your prompts, photo and profile details in Settings at any time. You can delete your account yourself under Settings, Security. That erases your name, lines, photo, swipes, matches and chats straight away, and leaves an empty, unusable shell of the account behind, because we must keep something for safety or legal reasons, such as a record of a report about you. Routine backup copies of our database can take a little longer to be fully overwritten, but are not used for anything in the meantime.

Account recovery

Because we hold no email or phone number, account recovery works through a recovery code we give you once when you sign up. We cannot show it again or look it up, so keep it somewhere private, such as a password manager, and never share it. Anyone who has it can take over your account. Accounts created before recovery codes existed may still recover with two security answers; choose answers that other people cannot guess or look up.

Age limit

Hey Tango is only for people aged 18 or older. If we learn that someone under 18 is using Hey Tango, we will remove their account.

Your choices and contact

Under Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act, and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to be told how your information is used, to access it, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it. Editing or deleting your profile, prompts, photo and account in Settings covers most of this yourself, at any time. For anything else, or a question about this policy, write to omniglobal.one@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. You can also complain to Zimbabwe's Data Protection Authority (POTRAZ) if you believe we have not handled your information properly.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app.
